So, high quality ski goggles guarantee reliable UV-protection and brighten up the landscape – something you will appreciate at the latest when first skiing in bad weather.

Security
In order to coordinate our movements or estimate situations correctly and react accordingly we must not at last be able to rely on our eyes. So, good eyesight belongs to the basic requirements for save skiing. For this reason optical ski goggles can be purchased. Especially for children wearing ski goggles for UV-protection is indispensable: While the eyes of infants do not yet possess any natural UV-protection, very high doses still enter the eyes of children under the age of 13. Besides protection against UV-rays, ski goggles shall also keep the chill from the eyes so that they do not start to water. Foreign bodies like pebbles, but also snow and ice crystals can injure the cornea or cause irritations and shall therefore bounce off the ski goggles.

Frame
First and foremost ski goggles should fit and seal well. For this purpose their frame has to adapt to the shape of the head. If the frame is too broad, the glasses are likely to slip, is it too slim, this may lead sore spots at the temples. If you wear ski goggles under a helmet, you have to try on both items together. The nose bridge should be padded or made of rubber. The basic rule is: No metal and bolts in the eye area, in order no to enhance the risk of injuries in case of a fall. According to this, also the hinges on both sides of the frame should be made of rubber.

Lense

With good ski goggles the lenses can be exchanged without difficulties. This enables not at last later optical corrections, if the eyesight of the skier changes. The lenses of ski goggles consist of break-proof polycarbonate and come in different colours. The all rounder among the lenses is orange: It brightens up, creates depth of focus, corrects sudden changes between light and dark and even passes the hardness test under blue sky and sunshine. Yellow primarily brightens up and should be worn in cloudy weather, at dawn and in fog. Auburn special lenses filter the proportion of blue out of the sunlight and facilitate the identification of contrasts due to their contrast enhancing effect. Spherical vented lenses bounce off infrared radiation and make sense in the high mountains. Polarising goggles only filter beams that bounce off horizontally from water surfaces, ice, roads and glass and are therefore absolutely unapt for skiing.
